Here comes Peter Cottontail!

Doesn't that Title make you start humming?  Just in case you need a reminder:  Sing Along with Gene Autry  And, here's a little more inspiration to help:

Mug Rugs aren't just for Mugs - a variety of bunnies can be displayed on a little Mug Mat!

Along with the traditional Easter fabric this year - bunnies, carrots, chicks, etc. - there were bunnies with glasses!  I thought eating lots of carrots prevented such things - lol!  love, faith.

Happy Valentine's Day 2021!

I just love it when I find fabric that "speaks to me"!  It normally says things like: "You can't live without me" or "Think of all the projects you can make with me - buy more than a Fat Quarter, for goodness sake!"  Well, this fabric really does "speak" - it's from Riley Blake Designs & is called "Hello Sweetheart". The tiny pink & red typewriters are beyond cute!  The messages say "I love you." & "you are just my type"!  Perfect for Valentine's Day - don't you agree?!  (And, I did buy 1/2 Yard, so there's that!).  love ... faith.

Wishing you a Peaceful Season

Most quilters/crafters/makers hope our creations are much loved or enjoyed or used - that is our intention. Quilters make for family & friends with high hopes that we've found just the right fabric or design or colors to bring some happiness or comfort to their days. And, we make for strangers so they know they matter - that we see their suffering. We put our time & money (of course) into our creations, but more importantly we put little bits of ourselves in, as well. As we stitch, we think, we smile, we hope.

It's similar to the movie, Like Water for Chocolate - every emotion the female character feels is cooked into her food. Only, instead of food, we're dealing with fabric. I think our intentions & hopes are "baked" into our quilting projects. But, sometimes there's a mismatch - things don't align, projects are passed along - some even end up in thrift stores (insert audible GASP here)!  It used to be that when I ran across thrift store textiles & embroideries, I'd feel bad for the Maker. I'd wonder what could have happened.

Then I remembered that one of my friends used to buy thrift store quilts. She would patiently take stitches out - day after day - night after night. Some she just re-quilted. Sometimes she re-stitched badly-sewn sections, replaced worn-out batting & then re-quilted. It was her therapy. She added her love to the quilt as she stitched away her pain. Doubly-blessed from multiple Makers. Like a gift given twice.

They say every quilt tells a story - I think some quilts are lucky enough to have multiple stories. Like this one below. It's a thrift store purchase. It's hand-quilted in itty-bitty stitches. It's beautifully pieced & the outside edge isn't bound but finished in a tiny piping, curved at the corners. I don't know what its original story was, but it brings me peace. I hope it does the same for you. ❤ faith.

Friday is PieDay!

Back in late October, Tizer Gardens advertised they had apples for sale - BIG bags of apples. I had intended to buy one bag, which is manageable when hand-cutting into Pies, but here's what I ended up with:

                                                         20+ pound bags of:

Liberty Apples
       Johnny-Macs &
        McIntosh Apples (my favorite!)

Thank goodness they kept well in a cold garage, because I didn't get to most of them until mid November!  I peeled & cut & pre-cooked into Apple-Pie Mix & froze flat in plastic bags. Ended up with 13 bags of future Apple Pies!  Why not more?  Well, there's nothing like the smell of a freshly-baked pie to encourage you to keep cutting, is there?!  🍏🍎 love, faith.

A Little Break to Make Masks

Took a little break from writing a quilt pattern to make masks & so far, one donation Lap Quilt for St. Peter's Health in Helena. They are specific on what they want, which is great.

Used up some scraps with an outdoors, fishing theme for this mini version of my 5-Yard Everyday Quilt. The lap quilts are for recovering patients to take home when they leave the Hospital. They are optimistic & so am I!

St. Peter's Health provides a Mask design with tie options (instead of elastic, which I don't have & is impossible to find). DH cut a bunch of wire pieces from a roll of 20-gauge jewelry wire. This design has a nose piece & an insert for a filter.

I usually listen to audio books when assembly-line stitching. Although I've already listened to the Harry Potter series, I thought sewing a little "magic" into each mask would be a good thing - don't you agree? :)

I'm kind of slow with the stitching - especially the ties. Luckily, I found a Bias Strip gizmo at the bottom of a "tool drawer" that is now speeding things up - more masks coming soon!  And, maybe another lap quilt or two!  As always, sewing small things with great ❤ ... faith.
